DAARTT has constructed more than 200 schools in Afghanistan and has been active in almost all provinces. The schools are built for girls and boys who do not have access to proper facilities, but receive education in open space, tents or unsuitable buildings, such as mosques.

With support from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, DAARTT has been constructing schools in Faryab province since 2012.

As a part of project completion, community-based school management committees take responsibility for their schools and maintenance teams, equipped and trained by DAARTT, start taking care of the school buildings.

DAARTT has constantly developed and refined its school designs in close consultation with the Ministry of Education’s Infrastructure Services Department.
